About

The Young Republic are 6 musicians from Nashville, TN. We play rock n’ roll music mixed with American folk , Country and references to Jazz and Classical. We are very influenced by Dylan, Lennon and many other rock acts of the same time period. Bands we respect these days are The White Stripes, Wilco, The Strokes. Other musical favorites beyond the rock world are John Williams, Berlioz, JD Simo (of The Don Kelly Band), Hank Williams, Mark O’Connor and so many more…

RECORDED MUSIC: Over our four year career we have released many, many EPs, which are for the most part now out of print. Currently, we are signed to a UK record label where we have enjoyed modest success with a few successful tours and the release of our mildly acclaimed debut album “12 Tales From Winter City” – a compilation of songs from the recordings we made while we were college students in Boston, MA. We have just completed Balletesque at our studio here in Nashville, TN and are weighing our options while we plan the release of the record for the United States and beyond for 2009.

In the mean time, we have just finished up our new 6 song “Idiot Grin” EP which we’ll be making exclusively available on tour this fall. In addition to this, we have a full slate of unrecorded material that will keep us busy well into the winter. If you live near Nashville and want some great records done on the cheap, contact us about recording at Sky Mountain Studios.

PRESS QUOTATIONS:

“The storm of ideas and sounds spins around singer Julian Saporiti…wild, mad, entirely their own and proof of their incredible potential. Catch them while you can” The Guardian

“Anyone can fall in love with this debut, it would take an absolute moron to let it go” NME

“12 Slices of Indie Pop Heaven” Rough Trade (Album of the Week)

“This debut achieves plenty, seamlessly skipping from folk introspection and lonesome country balladry to high-voltage power-pop with a glitteringly perfect cohesion.” Word

“A soaring delivery of harmony layered divinity.” Clash

“Located somewhere between the intelligent blissed-out US indie sound of Galaxie 500 and the scruffy, tuneful UK indie of Belle & Sebastian, Hefner or Bearsuit, ‘Girl From The Northern State’ is another deliciously melodic offering” Drowned in Sound

“The Young Republic’s finely crafted tales of love, lust and longing take in everything from the multi-instrumental grandeur of Arcade Fire to the wry humour of Jonathan Richman” Artrocker (Single of the Week)
